Are you overweight? Does a relative have high blood pressure? Can’t quit smoking? Do you eat too much salt and not enough fruit and vegetables? Can’t get off the couch to exercise? Drink too much coffee and alcohol, or are you over the age of 65?
Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is known as “the silent killer”. Most of the population don’t know they are exposed to this very serious and chronic health risk.
If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, it’s time to see your GP and have your blood pressure checked.
High blood pressure can be prevented by making changes to your lifestyle, diet and daily exercise regime as well as limiting your salt intake, quitting smoking and limiting alcohol.
